January 2004 - CASSETTE TAPE ARCHIVE 1982 This month we want to share some more
of the Daniel and David Thornberry phenomenon. They spent a lot of
time together creating - two dimensional art or sculpture or song or
entertainment and in this case, some impromptu audio dramas.
Unfortunately, we only have a part of this first one - which for it's
subject matter is very entertaining. 1982 This is a "walk through a museum" where they pretend to encounter their revered professor of art from Kent State University, Al Pompas. Daniel has mixed feelings about Al Pompas, but it is apparent from several other tapes that they both have a great deal of respect for the man - which this spoof betrays. 1982 Dave and Dan carry on at length making music to passing topics - starting with "frontal nudity". It then progresses to some trumpet and drum noise-making, banging on bottles, silveware, ukulele, tribal chants, whistling, a phone off the hook, and somewhere looses total control. It goes on and on and on! It had to be exhausting. Anything you can make sense out of - let us know - we'll try to document it! Enjoy. |
