This is a scan of the picture before being treated digitall to suppress the picture on the OTHER SIDE of the page which is "bleeding through" the thin paper. The picture is a insightful self-characterization - a little bit of madness in the face, the eyes, the forehead, the hair, the hand in the pocket - what is the holding small people with some falling? Is this significant? He says here (in 1980) "and NOW I write songs". This may be a conscious landmark that he was no longer only an artist of pictures and characterizations, comics, and quibs, but he was seeing himself in a new light - someone who writes songs. He had for years actively been making music, and high school artifacts evidence that a half dozen or so co-students were identified by Daniel as "member in his band".
